APISdirect 1.0 released

October 9, 2007

Halifax, Nova Scotia - SecureTRANSIT Inc., a leading developer of APIS (Advance Passenger Information System) airline security applications, has launched APISdirect, a web-native software application that ensures compliance with the APIS and No Fly passenger screening regulations of the United States’ CBP (Customs and Border Protection) agency.  APISdirect was specifically designed to process all domestic and international flight operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, CARICOM, Cuba, Spain, Japan, Australia and New Zealand and adapt to the evolving requirements of more than 40 additional countries that will be implementing their own APIS by the end of next year.

APISdirect uses Web services to link passenger, crew and flight data to a processing engine that validates, transmits and tracks APIS reports in the appropriate format for each country.  It provides real-time notification of the success, delay or failure of a transmission, has a complete audit trail and can archive data indefinitely.  APISdirect identifies high-risk individuals and keeps them grounded.

Built form the ground up on a flexible, open architecture, APISdirect leverages low cost, high-speed Internet connectivity that allows every type of airline operation -  Part 91, Part 121, Part 125 and Part 135 - to always be compliant, eliminate security-related ground delays and avoid costly fines.  Seamless integration to reservation and flight planning systems means that any flight operation, from a Part 91 island hopper to a wide-body international airline, can easily achieve these benefits.

“Our clients are demanding automated features like data population, improved security, a desktop monitor and the ability to make last minute changes to manifests.” says Jason Noftall, VP of R&D at SecureTRANSIT.  “We provide a user-friendly GUI and seamless integration to most of the standard airline applications like SkyPlan®, BART®, Sabre®, SITA®and Navataire®.  Elimination of double data entry and reduction in liability for CBP fines is usually enough justification for airlines to purchase our services, but these ease-of-use features certainly help too,” says Jason Noftall.

APISdirect can import, translate and validate all the file formats that are common in travel documents and airline systems.  And it will guarantee compliance by keeping pace with evolving reporting standards and new systems like AQQ (APIS Quick Query) and Secure Flight.

“APISdirect’s power comes from not just one, but two proprietary XML formats” says SecureTRANSIT’s VP of Software Development Paul Morash.  “The first, TransitXML, permits clients to define both passenger and master crew lists for submission.  The second, a private internal format, is used to define both the validation rules for a country and the EDIFACT generation rules. The back-end system is highly efficient in processing records.  APISdirect also can support SOAP and other interactive interfaces to permit clients to define their own arbitrary connections.”
